Addressing nationwide teacher shortages underscores the imperative to attract, recruit, and hire diverse educators. Studies show teachers of Color are more likely to leave due to racial bias, discrimination, and limited advancement. Additionally, less than 5% of educators identify as disabled, facing misconceptions, accessibility challenges, and discrimination. Further, LGBTQ+ educators also face discrimination and limited support, affecting their job satisfaction and professional development..

The journey towards an inclusive educator workforce doesn't end with bringing diverse people into the field; it extends into creating environments where educators, embodying diverse social identities and cultural responsiveness, not only join the teaching field but also thrive and contribute meaningfully to the educational landscape, thereby enriching the educational experience for all students.

This professional learning experience explores a multifaceted approach needed to sustain and empower educators who embody minoritized identities. The session places a strong emphasis on creating affirming conditions that promote the growth and well-being of all educators, with particular attention to those with minoritized identities.

Participants will have the chance to give feedback on recently developed practice standards for educational leaders. These standards are designed to promote inclusive working environments that prioritize the well-being of diverse educators and assist in their professional development journey.
