Keep Her Safe: Centering Black Girls in School Safety
November 2024
This report is a collaboration between the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC), the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), and Miami-Dade County Public School students and graduates, with the assistance of local community organizations. Its purpose is to uplift the voices of Black girls and ensure they are heard, seen and centered in decisions about creating safer schools. NWLC and SPLC asked Black girls and young women in Miami-Dade County about their experiences with school policing and school safety, building on previous work done in Miami by SPLC and partner organizations.
