Place: Local Natatorium H.S. State Swim Meet 

Event: Girls’ 50 Freestyle Finals 

Dilemma: Eight swimmers, one of whom is a transgender girl. A parent/caregiver of one of the swimmers confronts the coach about the transgender student's participation on the swim team.

In this edition of Equity Express, we explore the different ways in which coaches may respond to negative pushback about transgender students' participation in school sports, and the intents and impacts different responses may illicit. Multiple resources are embedded to assist in navigating these types of conversations, toward cultivating critical consciousness and inclusivity in school sports.
