Mark Dann is a Senior Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Educational Opportunities Section, where he conducts investigations and litigates cases nationwide to ensure public school districts and universities comply with federal antidiscrimination laws, including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Equal Educational Opportunities Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. In 2007, Dann was named one of Washington’s “Top Lawyers” by the Washingtonian Magazine, and in 2004, he was profiled by the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights as a “New Voice” of civil rights. Mr. Dann previously worked at a law firm representing clients in employment discrimination cases. Before then, he was a civil rights fellow at the national office of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, where he litigated complex school-reform cases, coordinated education-related policy and outreach initiatives, and prepared amicus briefs. Dann is a graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law and the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
