Angel C. Nathan, Ph.D.
Dr. Angel Cassandra Nathan serves as the Technical Assistance Specialist (Plains States) for the Midwest and Plains Equity Assistance Center in the Great Lakes Equity Center. In her position, she provides technical assistance through on-site and web-based professional learning experiences to in her service area of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and South Dakota. By collaborating with faculty and stakeholders, she is responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of technical assistance provisions for Tier II and Tier III partners. Angel has Ph. D. in Higher Education and Student Affairs with minors in Non-Profit Management and Inquiry Methodology and a certificate in Institutional Research. Her area of research explores how the system of language exerts often-unacknowledged positioning power through language choice. In addition, her scholarship has examined how historic structures in higher education influence contemporary governance, access, completion patterns, and perceptions of race and beauty. Her professional background includes work in university athletic academic support, assisting in health service assessment, project management for university large scale events and programming, and school level equity research and assessment.
