World Cafe: Students as Equity Leaders is an empowering event designed to encourage collaboration between public K-12 educators and students, centering student voices and perspectives in the pursuit of a more inclusive, safe, and just school community. With a particular emphasis on uplifting non-dominant students as leaders, this initiative enables youth and educator participants to recognize and address various manifestations of racism, such as micro-aggressions, through effective responses like micro-interventions and bystander strategies. Utilizing Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR), students will lead awareness-raising efforts to confront racism and other forms of oppression, supported by educators committed to authentic student-centered change. This event also fosters respectful dialogues on these critical issues, promoting a culture of equity and understanding for all students.
Note: This event is only open to individuals from school boards, state municipalities, school districts, or other governmental units legally responsible for operating a public school or schools, or from a federally funded technical assistance and dissemination center.
