Jeffery Franklin, MAT

Graduate Research Assistant
Indiana University-Purdue University
Jeffery Franklin Headshot

Jeffery Franklin is a Doctoral Student in Urban Education Studies at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Jeffery’s previous experiences as an elementary teacher have had a tremendous impact on his commitment to ensuring all students have access to a high-quality education regardless of race, socio-economic status, sexuality, etc. Jeff believes strongly in the brilliance of our youth and utilizes his credentials to study and engage tools and practices that allow students and educators in marginalized spaces to feel empowered to use their voices in their classroom spaces and communities. His research interests examine definitions of educational success that do not value the knowledge and perspectives of our youth. It is this perspective that allows Jeffery to use his nine-year experience as a classroom teacher, mentor and leader to engage ways we can affirm and value the varied perspectives and identities of our youth.
