Amy Sekhar, Ph.D.
Dr. Sekhar is the Assistant Director of Technical Assistance of the Midwest and Plains Equity Assistance Center (MAP Center) within the Great Lakes Equity Center. In this role, she manages the design and delivery of on-site and web-based professional development content and provides professional learning technical assistance to clients within the center’s 13-state region. Dr. Sekhar has worked as Associate Professor of French and as the Executive Director of the Ron and Laura Strain Honors College at the University of Indianapolis. Prior to joining the MAP Center, she was the Director of Community Education and Training at the Indiana Statewide Independent Living Council (INSILC), where she developed and implemented trainings and programs focused on disability justice, radical access and inclusion, and disability awareness and sensitivity. Dr. Sekhar is a graduate of the Partners in Policymaking program from the Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities (GCPD) and is an active member in disability advocacy at the state, local, and national levels. She has completed 104 hours of the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI) Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) and is currently enrolled in the 6-month professional coaching certification process. Dr. Sekhar is accompanied by her mobility assistance dog, Jules.
