EquiLearn Virtual Roundtable: is a live online synchronous learning experience aimed at providing an opportunity for participants to talk with and ask questions of a Subject Matter Expert, as well as engage in discussions and activities, which are uniquely different than more didactic focused webinars.

This interactive session is designed using a framework for culturally responsive school leadership.  Dr. Gonzales will lead participants in an interactive discussion that includes content regarding school-community relationships, educational practices, school reform, and social justice.

Virtual Roundtable guest Dr. Jo Etta Gonzales is the superintendent of the Casa Grande School District in Arizona. Dr. Gonzales earned her Doctoral degree from Arizona State University in Educational Leadership and Policy Development.  She has extensive professional experience as an educator: twenty-one years as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in urban, suburban, and rural school settings, and ten years of district and regional administrative experience. She taught special education and mathematics at the middle and elementary schools and served as a dean of students and certified specialist prior to taking a principal position. Before taking on the role of directing a national equity assistance center, The Equity Alliance at ASU, she worked as Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. Dr. Gonzales has taught courses in Multicultural and Bilingual Special Education at Arizona State University and Leadership in Special & Inclusive Education at the University of Kansas.

With a focus on equity, quality, and family, Dr. Gonzales is guided by the conviction that education changes lives and strengthens communities, and believes school leadership is about being responsive and inclusive. She staunchly believes in the ability of all children to succeed, and strives to ensure leadership that inspires our best efforts; all day, every day.
